Welcome to

FRESH ON DECK

where we educate and empower food-insecure children in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, and academics.

Experiential Learning

Fresh on Deck nutrition education classes allow students to participate in hands-on activities to learn about food, food systems, nutrition, physical activity and brain development.

At Fresh on Deck, we believe every child deserves the chance to thrive! We feed curiosity and excitement. Our programs are designed with fun in mind.  Hands-on, activities-based nutritional education is infused with science, math, reading, and physical activity.  These after-school and summer classes allow students to harness their energy by actively participating in the learning process.

Students will plant seeds to grow into plants at home, learn about heart-rate and pulse as well as the power of exercise. Taste testing is the best way to learn about taste buds!  Eating from all 5 food groups in addition to consuming all the colors in the rainbow will allow students to make informed decisions about what they put into their bodies, because FOOD IS FUEL!  The right foods can turn any coach potato into a jumping bean!

If you would like the Fresh on Deck program to come to your school, email us today!

Did You Know?

Food-insecurity

is a

social determinant that has a profound negative affect

on health and education.

Research shows an association between food-insecurity and behavioral problems like hyperactivity, anxiety and aggression in school-age children.

Food-insecurity affects concentration, memory, mood, and motor skills - all of which a child needs to achieve academic success.

When are they coming back?
